Whether you are seeing family on Christmas day or staying at home and and keeping things small for the whole Christmas period we have lots of ideas of how to make Christmas extra special this year!
Games! Board games, competitions and challenges will keep everyone on their toes all day long! Set up a Christmas Scavenger Hunt in the garden, take a look at Mumbler’s festive quiz or our family games and Taskmaster inspired activities!
Fancy Dress – Whether fancy dress means costumes or dressing fancy to you, make an effort for Christmas dinner! (alternatively spend the day in your PJs! Surely with all the other rules we are sticking to in an effort to keep ourselves and others safe, this year is the year for throwing ‘tradition’ out the window and doing whatever you want to do!?)
Presents! Spread the presents out over the day – some before breakfast, some after. You could go all out and set a treasure hunt to find gifts hidden around the house!
Arrange facetime/zoom calls with family and friends – we might not be with all our loved ones this Christmas but that doesn’t mean we cant involve them in the present opening or games! You could even arrange to eat your Christmas dinner at the same time and facetime throughout it! It will be like they are in the room with you – only less washing up!
Go for a family walk – There’s nothing like a nice walk after lunch to wake everyone up and make the most of the day. We have all done our fair share of walking this year so why not pick your favourite local route, get wrapped up and head out! You’ll get some fresh air and you’ll make room for that Christmas night left over sandwich!
Watch a Christmas film – We have so many Christmas films in our house but Home Alone, Nativity and The Grinch are some of our favourites! Don’t forget the new Julia Donaldson animation this year is ‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’ – on BBC one at 2.25pm on Christmas Day. Take a look at our top TV picks for Christmas 2020 here!
