They say ‘shop like your high street depends on it’ and that has never been more true than in 2020!
There are some great Christmas markets and fayres happening both virtually and in person over the next few weeks and with restrictions being lifted, some shops are able to reopen for the last few weeks of the year so it’s the perfect chance to get all your Christmas shopping finished, whilst supporting some our of amazing independent businesses!
Some of our favourite local shops are the perfect places to pick up some great presents – The Little Ripon Bookshop quite literally has something for everyone. Memorable Moments in Ripon is a great place to pick up decorations, cards and gifts and places like Caffe Tempo in Ripon Arcade are making some gorgeous biscuits that are perfect for teacher’s presents or secret-santa gifts! You can order some lovely Ripon themed hampers from The Ripon Hamper Company and don’t forget to visit The Easy Learning Shop in Ripon Small Shops for the most beautiful toys and games for the little ones in your life!
There are also lots of wonderful local online businesses like Lykke boks which is a Ripon based gift box company who create beautiful gift boxes for adults and children for almost any occasion (we have ordered a gorgeous Christmas Eve Box for our little one and I cant wait to open it with him!). Bows and Bunting are another online business run by local mum of 2. She makes amazing bows and headbands for little ones – check out their Christmas range (amazing stocking fillers!).
Bandit Leather are a local company who hand make leather items such a wallets, hats, and keyrings (great for ‘dad’ presents!) and Fettle sell really cool Yorkshire themes gifts like bags, t-shirts, notebooks and hats!
If hand made gifts are your thing but, like me, you aren’t great at getting creative then take a look at To Have and To Home which is run by a lovely local mum – the prints are gorgeous and their hanging decorations are so lovely!
Whoever is on your present list, whether you will be seeing them on Christmas day or not, there is something for everyone if you look local!
