Pin the tail on the donkey:
A great one to play at home with the family. Get the kids to make the tail in their Art class – homeschooling and partying in one!
Musical Statues:
My little girl is 3 and has really got into this recently, we play it most mornings! We played this at the Zoom party and it worked really well. The Mum organising made sure we were all fully prepped and we had some treats to hand out if our child was the winner! Which she was – those early morning sessions paid off!
Pass the Parcel:
A golden oldie. Play it at home with family members or even with all your child’s dolls and teddy bears. This is next stage organisation skills but we’ve done it and it’s totally worth it. Pass the Parcel via Zoom! Yep – funnily enough we played this with my family for my 40th last month! It was so much fun, for the adults and the kids – kudos to my hubby for pulling it off! Basically each household needs a parcel, we all sat round the screen – adults either side of the kids. Then through the magic of slight of hand its passed from one house hold to the other (ie hidden by the adults till its their turn again!). Everyone got a chance to open a layer of wrapping paper, with a little sweet in it for everyone – with the birthday girl getting the main “big” present at the end. As i said, it takes a bit of organising but its really worth it.
Make your own Piñata:
Another art lesson come party prep and will also keep the kids entertained for a good while! Paper mâché a ballon, pop balloon, paint the paper mâché then fill with sweets – simple! Then fun for all the family trying to bash it open!
Spot the Difference:
Another golden oldie we use to play when I was little. This is a great one to play at home or easily done over Zoom. Our Community Champion Evie has been playing this with her little boy and his Grandparents over Zoom. Lay out a tray with 10 or so household objects. Blindfold the child then remove one. If they remember which one is missing then they get a treat.
Treasure Hunt:
There’s nothing better than a scavenger hunt around the house – it went down a storm at ours at Easter! In fact it’s another one, that with a bit of planning, can be done over Zoom! Write clues around the house – or even other people’s houses if you’re using zoom, and get them to solve the clues!
Laser Quest at home:
I love the idea of this, I read it on a friend’s social media page. Its really simple to do! Convert your hallway into the ultimate Laser quest by pinning “lasers” across the room – by lasers I mean ribbon or tape! Then time the kids as they make their way through – adding a few extra seconds for every time they hit a laser!
The chocolate bar game:
Did anyone else play this at the end of term at primary school?! One to play at home with the family – but could also be very easily done over Zoom! So you all line up in row (a virtual one if needs must!), first child gets to roll a dice – once they roll a 6 they then have to put on aa hat and gloves and attempt to open and eat as much chocolate (thing large bar of choc) as possible, BUT you can’t use your fingers – you have to use a knife and fork – and you can only eat one piece at a time. And whilst you’re taking your turn, the next person in line is rolling the dice until they get a 6 for their turn. The amount of times I’d got the hat and gloves one and the chocolate open only to be told i need to get to the back of the queue as it was the next person’s go!
Play Doh modelling:
We did this last night on a virtual quiz with some of our friends and it was brilliant fun! Really simple, describe an object – then everyone not only has to guess what the object is but then make it out of play doh! Great fun, coming from someone who HATES Play Doh!
